The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) says it has transferred LD17m ($13m) to help fund security efforts in Benghazi, denying rumours that it had withheld the money.

An Ajdabiya-based group has announced the formation of a local autonomous government for the Barqa (Cyrenaica) region, a move which the General National Congress (GNC) has dismissed as "illegitimate".

The Central Bank of Libya (CBL) has reportedly transferred more than LD40bn ($32bn) towards the government budget between January and July this year.

Prime minister Ali Zeidan has accused two General National Congress (GNC) members of being involved in his abduction earlier this month.

In a televised address on 13 October, Libya's prime minister says his brief abduction was an attempt by his political opponents to bring down the current government.

The Central Bank of Egypt has ordered banks to suspend the accounts of up to 20 senior figures from the Gaddafi regime, as well as several state-run entities.

Prime Minister Ali Zeidan has denied that his government paid "bribes" to re-open oil ports, but admitted that it offered money to groups behind the closures in return for handing in their weapons.

A statement signed by General National Congress (GNC) members from southern Libya has rejected a recent declaration of self-governance from an Ubari-based group.

A spokesman for the defence ministry clarifies recent comments, saying that no decision has yet been taken on whether to purchase border control services and equipment from foreign foreigns.

The General National Congress (GNC) is studying a request from the Ministry of Economy to provide a further LD800m ($640m) towards subsidies.

Libya's largest political grouping, the National Forces Alliance (NFA), says it rejects an extension of "even one day" to the term of the General National Congress (GNC).

A spokesman for Libya’s national assembly says its term will only end when a constitution is finalised and a new parliament elected, and not on a specific date.

An additional LD208m ($166m) has been allocated to the defence ministry to pay wages to over 8,000 employees, with the government requesting a further LD5bn ($4bn) in extra funds for other purposes.
