New EU delegation head presents credentials

Natalia Apostolova, who was appointed as the EU's ambassador to Libya in May, has officially presented her credentials to GNC president Nuri Abu Sahmain.

Apostolova, a Bulgarian national, was previously the deputy head of the EU delegation in Egypt. Her predecessor in Tripoli was a Slovak diplomat, Peter Zsoldos, who had held the post since February 2012.

An EU convoy carrying the new ambassador came under attack earlier this month close to the Corinthia Bab Africa hotel in Tripoli, with several vehicles rammed and their occupants robbed.

The EU lodged an official complaint to the Libyan government following the incident.
